Writing a manga and looking for artists.
19th-Jan-2012 12:41 am - Manga Idea
Hey all,
I'm a writer that writes lots of different stories from comics, mangas and novels.I've got lots of story ideas and I was hoping I could find some wonderful artists to create them into some real life comics.
My plan is either to put them on a site caleld capsulecomputers.com.au that I have some connections with and we would put the comic/manga in it's own section to advertise it to the thousands of viewers that come to the site. The other plan is make the comic great and al then send it out to every comic publisher we know:D

Anyway I have LOTS of story ideas
If you're interested in the least check them out: auraredwood.livejournal.com/tag/story idea :D
and I hope someone would like to go on this little journey with me :P

p.s. I edited this post so if the comments don't make sense....that's why :P

16th-Aug-2011 01:01 pm - Hi, I'm new to this group.
I hope to maybe revive it a little.

I'm part of a small group called "Rosegold", formerly another group but now being taken over by me and a pal, Chris. We do writing and art along with 3 other people, and though we thought that a manga would be really complicated, we're about 60K words into a 100K word piece that we'd like to make into a simple game.

The focus is probably shounen ai with an added shoujo ai bonus, but hopefully minus the usual tropes of the seme being a certain way, the uke being a certain way, the seme meeting the uke, molesting the uke and having that be the trigger for a relationship that isn't full of abuse. It's also fantasy, and because I know that nochick likes it, similar to FMA as far as the weight of the fantasy elements and the "darkness".

One thing we're really looking for is one of those hardcore medieval cruel betas who will brutally polish every word until it shines. If you're on your summer break, you might have fun with this.

Leave a PM if you might be interested and I can show you some of the group's work? nn;;

joffery baratheon, sansa stark
I originally created by journal so I could post up some of the graphics I'd been fooling around with out of love for A Song of Ice and Fire and the new Game of Thrones series based on it. But, I've decided to branch out a bit, and make use of the great community on LJ.

It looks like there's not a whole ton of participation on this community, but the articles are interesting (thank you for posting them).

At this point, I'm really just looking for people to chat with about my story, about writing/scripting, and the whole shebang - basically a writing buddy. I'll be happy to give input on others' stories and listen to their rants /get to know them in turn.

It's awesome that there's LGBT manga production, because the story I want to work on could be considered Shoujo Ai to a certain extent.

I had considered western comics, but Manga has this organic appeal to it. I really understood what it was that I was feeling as a difference, when I read Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics. I think that between the fact that eastern Manga is considered more of an art-form by the cultures it exists in, more energy is exerted in using panels for mood and setting and real emotional engagement. I find that when I'm reading a Western Comic, I power through it "What happens next! What happens next!" and then go back to look with more detail at the art later, while in Manga I "mosy" through still with interest, but devouring the expressions and depth of the panels. I don't know if that makes sense.

Anyhow, I look forward to meeting like-minded people to talk shop with. :)
30th-Jun-2011 09:00 pm - How to Network at Cons
FMA Ed Hi!
Yuri Monogatari editor Erica Friedman posted a really interesting article on her blog about con networking.   It has some good tips for anyone looking to make a career in this thing of ours.

You can read it here.
17th-Apr-2011 09:56 pm - Tokyopop
FMA RoyxEd Wheee!!!
The news about Tokyopop definitely sucks for manga fans.  It sucks a lot.  But the news is even more disheartening because it now means there will be one less publishing possibility out of the mere handful that exist on this side of the world (slim as those odds were in the first place for OEL manga).  And while it's awesome that so many creators are taking it upon themselves to self-publish and/or publish online, this news is still a pretty big blow for those who choose to pursue becoming published via the traditional route.

Damn shame...

13th-Nov-2010 08:17 pm - NaNoWriMo
Is anyone participating in NaNoWriMo this month? It's a good opportunity to get some writing done, and even though we're already 13 days into November, there's still time to sign up and buckle down for some serious plotcrafting ^_^ If you're already participating, give me a nudge and add me as a writing buddy! My username on there is Risingedge.
25th-Sep-2010 08:30 am - Backing Up Your Work
A friend of mine who I'm helping edit his book just had a major PC meltdown and lost all 500 pages of his novel *grimace*. The first thing that crossed my mind while reading his message was, "why the heck didn't he backup his work?!" But I suppose no one ever expects a calamity like this to befall them until it actually does, and then it's all self-reproach and large tubs of devoured ice-cream =/

Which brings me to my question - do you back up your work, and if yes, what are your methods? We could all use a few tips on safeguarding our creations-in-progress. I might even be able to give my friend a few pointers, since I myself am no whiz in such things and often fail to backup my own work.
