Description:
A gensakusha community for manga writers who can't draw to save their lives!
Simply put, this is a community for those of you who want a career in the wonderful world of manga... and can't draw for $#*&!

If you're anything like me, you're a manga writer with not even a hint of artistic ability who has decided to pursue a career in a primarily visual literary field.

Silly rabbit.

It CAN be done, though. And this community is a haven for those of us in pursuit of that goal to meet, share, bitch, moan, and groan. Because, let's face it, we face a unique set of challenges when it comes to finding success as a gensakusha. I will be complaining about discussing some of these challenges in full a bit down the road, as well as posting a few script and novel excerpts.

I know that there are a lot of other comic book/writing communities out there, but what I wanted to create was something specific to manga. There is a world of difference between writing for manga vs. writing for comic books, complete with its own specific set of challenges (and frustrations). Also when someone feels the overwhelming urge to go all fangirl or fanboy over the writing for their fandom, they'll be amongst kindred souls who will know exactly what the hell they're talking about! ^-^

I'm not sure how popular this community will be, given the fact that when I first entered gensakusha under my LJ interests, no one else on earth had it listed. But nevertheless, there has to be someone else out there who wants to write manga and light novels and has zero talent in the art department, like me.

So I'm going to hang out here and talk to myself about manga script and light novel writing, finding a partner, submissions and self publishing, writing issues specific to manga, and I might even post some script and novel excerpts. Feel free to join me.

Rules? Well, let's see. Please use the LJ cut for particularly wordy posts. If you'd like to share something you've done, please post original work only, no fanfiction. Common courtesy between fellow writers is a must. Please friends-lock any writing excerpts you wish to share, unless you don't mind the whole of creation checking it out. You may want to take the necessary copyrighting/WGA registration procedures before you up and show everyone what you've written, unless you just don't care about that sort of thing. I think that's about it for now.

Thanks for stopping by!
